Meet Ben

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to live 15 minutes away from my Grandparents. Their property was name “Maple Hill”, and included a barn where my Grandfather kept all of his tools and equipment. He kept a bunch of scrap wood under one of his workbenches and I would spend hours upon hours in the barn building anything you could imagine.

Grandpa Manning taught me so many lessons. One of the most impactful was, “Please don’t leave my tools in the back yard any more, Ben. I ran over the hammer you left out with the lawnmower the other day.”

I now find myself extremely fortunate to be running this business and as an ode to the man who taught me how to read a tape measure (and to measure twice and cut once,) how to hold a hammer properly, let me experiment, lose his tools in the yard and most importantly support my passion for building, I have affectionately named this business “Maple Hill Woodworks.”

Meet The Mannings

Growing up, any time my parents hired a contractor, I was right there asking questions and monitoring progress. I always asked if I could help and/or borrow some tools which usually resulted in me grabbing them some water… and not so much borrowing tools. Fast forward several years, I found myself studying Construction Science and Management at Clemson University. It was on a flight to Clemson that I met Sara, the woman of my dreams. Sara also grew up in Delaware and at our wedding, my Father-in-law commented, “Gini and I are so happy to have paid for Sara to go to Clemson so she could meet a guy from Delaware to marry.”

Sara and I are proud to call Charlotte home and love raising our children, Emma and Reid, here. After starting Maple Hill in 2020 out of our garage, we have grown into a full-service custom cabinetry & woodworking company.
